November 1998

1998 was supposed to be the final year of the November Project as it was originally conceived. In 1998  I was living in East Lansing, MI, but also traveled to Flushing, MI occasionally for part-time carpentry work and was in Grayling, MI on the 15th. As can be seen there was not an obvious theme this year, except for a minimal focus on technology and kitsch. Some photographs were made driving, some were taken where I lived and some were taken around my studio. I was aware that this was the last, tenth year of the November Project, but I did not do anything in particular to mark the end.

As has been probably noted in previous years and especially in this year's Nov. 30th, I have a bit of sarcasm in my practice, at times mocking, whoever I may see as my critics. I have also taken on a tendency to exalt "low" culture because of a disappointment with "high" culture. November 1998 includes Polaroid, color and black and white photography randomnly and for no reason in particular. What has been the reason for the past ten year's work anyhow?
